Hello Care Olive Collagen Sheet Mask Review

Remember how I was planning to step up my sheet mask review game? Hahahahaha, yeah. Good joke, I guess. But I’m actually going to pay up today and give you guys my Hello Care Olive Collagen Sheet Mask Review, since I actually remembered to take photos when I used it two nights ago!

But seriously, guys. This is how crazy my sheet mask backlog has become: I posted this pic of my Hello Care Sheet Mask haul from Asian Food Grocer twenty-six weeks ago, and I’ve only tried a whopping two of them since then.

Got a bunch of clearanced sheet masks today, lucky lucky 👍 #kbeauty #skincare #shopping

I may have a problem.

Anyhow, as I alluded to in that insta post, I managed to get these sheet masks dirt cheap when Asian Food Grocer was clearing them out. I guess sheet masks weren’t selling very well for them, because they slashed them all to like 50 cents each and don’t seem to have ever restocked. I grabbed one of each type available, though looking at Hello Care’s website, the Intensive Collagen line has a TON of variations beyond the seven “flavours” that I purchased.

However, today I’m only going to be talking about the Hello Care Intensive Olive Collagen Treatment Mask.

Xaivita Goat Milk Whitening Cream Review

Thanks to my 2014 Memebox spree, my backstash of moisturizers and facial cream is positively insane. Today, I’m going to post my Xaivita Goat Milk Whitening Cream Review – this is a product that I’ve been using for the past eight weeks, but I’ve actually owned since the Cleopatra Memebox was released way back in winter of 2014!! Seriously, guys, this is why I’ve been trying to make 2017 the year of depop, because things are a little out of control…

Anyhow, the Xaivita Goat Milk Whitening Cream is one that I’ve had on my shortlist for when I needed a new wintertime moisturizer, due to its myriad hydrating ingredients. Among other standouts, this cream includes sodium hyaluronate, goat milk at 10,000 ppm, macadamia oil, jojoba esters, niacinamide, and glycerin. It seemed like a great choice for a season where my skin would be battered by cold temperature and winds when outside walking my dog and running errands, you know?

Skin79 Strawberry Girl Sheet Mask Review

The past few days have been very cold – in the single digits with “feels like” sitting around zero fahrenheit thanks to wind chill. This means that the heat has been cranked up everywhere, and in turn, my skin is starting to feel pretty dry. I woke up this morning with the definite realization that as much as I love the finish my Vicco Turmeric Cream gives, even layered over my craploads of hydrating essences and serums, it is definitely not hydrating enough for the absolute dead of winter.

I’m going to be going through my moisturizer backlog and see what looks promising next (I’m very close to being finished with this Vicco tube anyhow), but as a stopgap emergency measure, I decided my resolution for the next week-ish would be to use a hydrating sheet mask every other morning. Ideally, I’ll also review them each for you here, assuming my laziness doesn’t get the better of me… 😏

Yesterday morning, I tried out the Skin79 Strawberry Girl Fruit Mask!

Sample Stash Quickie: Innisfree Green Tea Seed Serum Review

So after just under a month of daily use, I’m ready to write my Innisfree Green Tea Seed Serum review. I know, I know, it’s a long time coming – I’ve had this batch of sample packets for almost two years, I think! But I just have so much skincare stash to work through that, even if I’m almost always testing something new, it’s going to take me eons to work through everything.

innisfree-green-tea-seed-serum-review

In the case of the Innisfree Green Tea Seed Serum, my 10 sample packets went a really long way. I used the serum in the morning only and got about 3 generous applications per sample tube – but I only made it through 7 tubes before I realized that, sadly, this was yet another fan favorite product (see: Mizon Snail Recovery Cream) that was just not working out for me.

Before I get too far into that, let’s talk about what the Innisfree Green Tea Seed Serum brings to the table.

Here’s the description from the Innisfree website:

A moisturizing serum with organic Jeju green tea and green tea seeds that hydrate your skin from deep within!

1. More moisture and freshness with 100% green tea.
Rich in amino acids and minerals, green tea from Jeju’s own green tea leaves hydrates your skin.

2. Dual Moisture-Rising Technology™ derived from green tea and green tea seed oil
The fresh green tea deeply hydrates your skin and the green tea seed oil creates a strong moisture barrier to keep your skin moisturized longer.

3. The first thing to apply after a face wash!
As the first skincare product you use, it helps hold moisture in your skin and prevents moisture loss.

As instructed, I did always apply the Innisfree Green Tea Seed Serum as the step immediately following my cleanser. It applied quickly and evenly and absorbed nicely, so no complaints there. I definitely felt like my skin looked softer and plumper after application to an extremely visible degree, so I really had high hopes!

Kiyi Kiyi Soap Lip Balm Review – Lingonberry & Persian Love Cake Flavors

Another month, another lip balm review from yours truly. What can I say? I’m almost as addicted to trying out new lip balms as I am to Blade & Soul, or comic books, or skincare. It’s a definitely a thing for me. This time around, I’m reviewing two lip balms from Kiyi Kiyi Soap, a Minnesota-based brand that I found on Etsy while searching for Turkish Delight scented/flavored beauty products. I’ve mentioned before that I have a tendency to go on scent sprees where I just search for something with a specific note or flavor – cardamom, melon, cherry blossom, and now Turkish Delight.

Kiyi Kiyi Soap Lip Balms

Kiyi Kiyi Soap has a lot of unique flavors to choose from in their balm selection – this is what drew me to the shop in the first place, as mentioned above. I’d recently finished off Epically Epic Soap’s Turkish Delight lip balm and loved it, but their shop was on a break and I needed to replenish my balm supply ASAP. So when I found Kiyi Kiyi Soap’s Persian Love Cake flavor, it seemed much in the same vein:

Exotic Persian Love Cake lip balm! Rose water and sweet buttercream cupcake flavors combine in a tasty treat to nourish your lips with mango butter. Plus it’s pink!

This balm was made to recreate one of my favorite cake recipes – Persian Love Cake. It combines rose water and delicious buttercream frosting. Yum!

I’m really coming around to light rose (and floral in general) flavors in my lip products, so rosewater is pretty much exactly on target. And mixed with sugary buttercream? Um, sounds delicious.

When I discovered that they also had a Lingonberry flavor – blame the absolutely delicious Lingonberry preserve in my recent Try the World Sweden Box for getting me hooked on this one – I was totally sold. I tossed the two balms into my cart and the deal was done!

You know the drill: on the main page, click read more, blah blah.

Tosowoong Syn-Ake Natural Pure Essence Review

Today I’m going to review a product that I’ve been using for about 4-5 months. I received the Tosowoong Syn-Ake Natural Pure Essence in a Memebox (Special #76 The Empress’ Secrets); when I first saw it in the box, I was really excited because A) I’d been using Tosowoong’s Time Shift Emulsion for months and loving it, so was happy to try more from the brand, and B) Weird ingredients are always fun to try out, right? So I set it aside as my ‘next in line’ essence/emulsion product once I finished the Time Shift.

I’ve now been using the Syn-Ake essence for several months, and I feel comfortable enough to make my Tosowoong Syn-Ake Natural Pure Essence review at this point. I wanted to post it yesterday for World Snake Day, but it didn’t quite make it – better a day late than never, though, right?

Tosowoong Natural Pure Syn-Ake Essence

Obviously, the primary ‘draw’ of this essence is “SYN-AKE” – a synthetic imitation of venom from the Temple Viper. As an aside, if you find snakes adorable like I do (c’mon, they have such cute little faces), you can find pictures and information about the Temple Viper here. I actually checked to see if my local zoo (the fantastic Columbus Zoo) has one because I’d be kind of entertained by paying respects to the snake that’s inspired a product that I like so much, but sadly they don’t seem to have one in residence at the moment. Boo!

Okay, uh, derail aside – why on earth would people want to put synthetic snake venom on their face? Click the read more if you’re on the main page to find out 😉

Barefoot Apothecary Haul Post & First Impressions!

I found Barefoot Apothecary’s Etsy shop when I was trawling for any cardamom-related beauty products. Blame Epically Epic Soaps and their Vanilla Cardamom lip balm for setting me off on this kick, but at least it appears I’m not the only one feeling cardamom lately!

Barefoot Apothecary features an interesting selection – teas, honeys, bath and beauty products, jewelry, and fragrances can all be found in their inventory. I’ve been on a major tea kick lately, so the fact that this shop had cardamom honey, some exquisite-sounding teas, and cardamom perfume oils (as well as lily and sakura fragrances, which are a couple of my other favorite notes), I knew I wasn’t getting out of this encounter without losing some cash!

I ended up ordering a perfume oil sample set, the infused honey elixir sample set, and the smaller size of one of the “perfumed” tea blends.
