Skin79 Strawberry Girl Sheet Mask Review

The past few days have been very cold – in the single digits with “feels like” sitting around zero fahrenheit thanks to wind chill. This means that the heat has been cranked up everywhere, and in turn, my skin is starting to feel pretty dry. I woke up this morning with the definite realization that as much as I love the finish my Vicco Turmeric Cream gives, even layered over my craploads of hydrating essences and serums, it is definitely not hydrating enough for the absolute dead of winter.

I’m going to be going through my moisturizer backlog and see what looks promising next (I’m very close to being finished with this Vicco tube anyhow), but as a stopgap emergency measure, I decided my resolution for the next week-ish would be to use a hydrating sheet mask every other morning. Ideally, I’ll also review them each for you here, assuming my laziness doesn’t get the better of me… 😏

Yesterday morning, I tried out the Skin79 Strawberry Girl Fruit Mask!

This mask features hydrating ingredients like glycerin, avocado oil, fruit extracts (strawberry, banana, kiwi, and mandarin), gardenia extract, as well as skincare stand-bys like allantoin and betaine.

Full ingredients list: Water, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Fragaria Chiloensis (Strawberry) Fruit Extract, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Fruit Extract, Musa Sapientum (Banana) Fruit Extract, Actinidia Chinensis (Kiwi) Fruit Extract, Citrus Nobilis (Mandarin Orange) Fruit Extract, Trhalose, Betaine, Allantoin, Gardenia Florisa Fruit Extract, Phenoxyethanol, Xanthan Gum, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Tromethamine, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Ethyhexylglycerin, Disodium EDTA, Fragrance, 1,2-Hexanediol

Betaine is a humectant gives skin a silky-smooth feeling as well as a temporary “plumping/filling” effect for wrinkles.

Allantoin is derived from comfrey, and is known for being very soothing as well as encouraging the skin healing process.

Glycerin binds water to the skin as well as imbues a soft, smooth finish. Some studies have also found it may help promote a healthy skin cell life cycle.

Avocado oil is an extremely hydrating oil that provides fatty acids and Vitamin E to help soothe and smooth the skin.

Skin79 Strawberry Girl Sheet Mask Review: Fit & Style

Okay, well, obviously this sheet mask is hilarious-looking. The outer edges have a strawberry “rind” appearance and you get some serious fake eyebrows. The instagram super-heavy brow-filling crowd could never.

You can kind of see in this #sheetmaskselfie that it’s a very long mask. Look how far up my hair it extends! Note that the “strawberry rind” is all around the outer edge, so you can estimate how much I had tucked under my chin as well. This means that for people with larger jaws and/or foreheads, this sheet mask will have you covered! For everyone else, you can get some coverage for your neck and under your jaw.

I found the width to be suitable enough for my face – the nose/lip portion, while not sitting perfectly in sync with my features, was still comfortable enough that I wasn’t sitting there in sheer annoyance waiting for the 20 minutes to pass. But you can see that it definitely had enough sheet that I had to do a little folding to make it fit since there was definitely excess space in the lip/nose/jaw area for me:

My only real complaint here is that the mask didn’t smell like strawberries at all! It had a lightly perfumed scent that I couldn’t quite place, but it was definitely not fruity.

After putting the mask on, I went and chilled in bed texting and playing LINE rangers (why is such a simple game so addictive?!) for a little over the recommended 20 minutes.

Skin79 Strawberry Girl Sheet Mask Review: Results

Once the 20 minutes was up, I gently pulled the sheet off and patted the excess serum into my face, neck, and chest. I thought the essence absorbed well – in kind of an interesting, almost contradictory-sounding fashion, though. Like, it felt like it was absorbed – my skin didn’t feel wet at all – but my skin felt slightly tacky and I looked extremely dewy to the point that I thought I should wait a bit before my next skincare step. I waited about 5 minutes before proceeding with the rest of my morning skincare routine, and at that point I had no issues with the sheet mask’s serum texture or dry-down interfering with any of my other products.

For the rest of the day, my skin felt very soft, smooth, and pliable. It’s the feeling you sometimes see called “chewy” on skincare forums – supple, plumped with moisture, elastic, etc. It’s definitely the feeling you WANT a hydrating skincare product to imbue, so that’s a win.

When I woke up the next morning, my skin still felt significantly more moisturized than it did prior to using this sheet mask. And thank goodness, because this morning gifted me with a full-blown cold, so I’m having to blow my nose like crazy – having the skin around my nose in good condition helps alleviate the irritation of constant tissues for sure.

I did not notice any irritation or clogging whatsoever from this mask, which is always a huge win for me, especially when dealing with moisturizing products. I’m glad that it seems avocado oil – at least in the formulation seen here – isn’t a problem for me. I’ve used many body/lip/hair products with avocado oil and butter in their ingredients lists and always really liked them, but had been a little worried it might not end well with my face. YMMV, of course, but I just wanted to throw that out there for other clog-prone girls who may have been worried about trying this sheet mask.

Skin79 Strawberry Girl Sheet Mask Review: Overall Impression

So, for my overall Skin79 Strawberry Girl Sheet Mask Review – I am quite pleased with this mask, and I’m glad that I bought multiples! It did exactly what I was hoping it would – imbued by skin with an intense shot of moisture without any clogging or irritation. It also made for a super-silly Instagram post, so I can’t complain!

So, YES, I would definitely repurchase this sheet mask again some time, or at the very least – I’ll certainly try out some other Skin79 sheet masks since this one was such a positive experience for me!
