Valentine’s Day Luvmilk Bath & Body Haul

If you follow me on instagram or twitter, you may have seen me mention that I’ve started doing the PIIT28 program from Blogilates. After a few false starts where I realized I wasn’t quite in shape enough for daily HIIT workouts and ended up doing other programs to get ready for PIIT28, I finally managed to start for real this February.

So far I’m having a lot of fun, but man – the muscle soreness can be real, even with my beloved Vega Sport Recovery Accelerator! I finish each workout pretty sweaty and tired, so I started thinking… wouldn’t it be nice to have a nice, soothing bath after my tougher PIIT sessions?

And, you know, I’d been stalking the Luvmilk shop on Etsy for awhile… who just so happens so specialize in milk baths. And, you know, the shop had just so happened to recently add a bunch of delicious-sounding Valentine’s Day scents…

I mean, you can see where this is going, right? I decided to gift myself some goodies from Luvmilk, both for Valentine’s Day and as kind of a carrot for my continued perserverence in the PIIT28 program – you know, finish the workout, get a luxurious bath. That kind of thing!

And that’s all it took to convince myself! I did try to keep this relatively small, despite Luvmilk having sooo many yummy-sounding scents. It was a bit rough, but my package arrived yesterday and everything smells absolutely fantastic, so I think I chose well 😊

June 2016 K-Beauty Haul from eBay’s iamlove-shop!

It’s been quite some time since I allowed myself a K-Beauty haul – blame Memebox for keeping me so well-stocked on most of my essentials. Really, I have so many masks, moisturizers, essences, toners, and blushes now that I should be good for a few more years!

But of course, sometimes things come along that are just so cute that you can’t help yourself. This haul was the result of several such items coming to my attention and, eventually, becoming too hard to resist.

Everything in this particular k-beauty haul came from the iamlove-shop (click here to visit them on eBay), and was shipping quickly and securely. I’ve purchased from them a few times before and always had good experiences, so this isn’t much of a surprise!

As you can see from the above image, this isn’t a mega haul. I just tried to pick a few items that were really, really calling my name!

Mairi’s May 2016 Most Wanted List

It’s been quite some time since I did a shopping/wishlist style post – probably because I’ve been trying to squirrel more money away for my theoretical, maybe, someday, probably move to a different climate (preferably somewhere with less humidity and no mosquitoes, thanks) and the best way to resist temptation is to bury my head in the sand and pretend that I don’t see all the pretty things begging for my bucks.

But I’m also trying to get in the habit of writing here regularly again, and want list posts are simply fun to make. So I’m thinking to try and do this monthly – just round up all the fun things I’ve stumbled across and resisted (or not). Posting about shopping can be almost as satisfying as actual shopping… uh, maybe?

With that said, read on to see the top ten items I’m most wanting this May!

Indie Body Lotion Review: Sweet Clementine Soaps Goat’s Milk and Honey Hand and Body Lotion

Hello, everyone! Today, I’m back with an indie body lotion review. I recently ran out of my normal hand/foot cream (I’ve been using just boring old St. Ives for awhile ehh) and decided it was time for a change. Since I’ve started using the Jergens in-shower moisturizer, I don’t go through body lotion as quickly nowadays – I really only use it for my hands and feet. This means I can afford to splurge a bit with fun Etsy body creams, since I’m not burning through them at the speed of light.

trio

I’d had Sweet Clementine Soaps favorited for a few months, mostly because they had a really appealing scent selection and extremely cute packaging. I admit that I’m easily tempted when indie sellers make the effort to get some sort of professional-style packaging – I suppose that it implies that they’re invested in their product and thus more likely to have put in work to perfect the formulas that they’re selling. I know that’s not true across the board, of course – I’ve had excellent products from very DIY sellers and crappy products from seemingly polished shops – but it’s definitely something that plays into my decision-making when shopping on Etsy.

SCS sells themed sets of three mini lotions – and since I was new to the brand, I decided this would be the best way to try them out. I’d get to try the formula fully as well as three different scents, and if I wasn’t impressed, 2oz per type isn’t a huge investment. I selected the “French Patisserie” set, which included 2oz tubs of Crème Brûlée, Pistachio Macaron, and Chocolate Mousse body creams. I also grabbed a lip balm, because you know how I am about my lip balms (fanatical is the answer 😈), but that’s another review for another day!

My Cute Wishlist 2 Memebox Review & Unboxing

Like so many people, one of my favorite things about Asian cosmetics is just how darn cute the packaging can be. Etude House, Tony Moly, Skinfood, It’s Skin’s Babyface line, and my personal favorite Holika Holika – tons of brands make their names with both products that are both adorable and high quality. Given how often “cute packaging” in Western cosmetics tends to mean “cheap, crappy drugstore products aimed at pre-teens”, it’s really awesome to have a way for adults with real skin and cosmetic concerns to still be able to indulge their more whimsical sides.

All that is to say, when My Cute Wishlist 2 popped up on the Memebox site? OF COURSE I grabbed it.

overview

Here’s the official description of this Memebox:

It’s Back! We spritzed, powdered, and puckered up our way through thousands of precious darlings to bring you a box that bubbles over with cuteness!

The second edition of our My Cute Wishlist Box is loaded with darling delights that have swoon-worthy signature cheeky Korean names and gosh-darn-cute packaging. From miniature beautifying trinkets to precious pouch portables, this box full of darling beauty finds will make you bubble over with giddiness.

I’d have to say that personally, I think this box did live up to its hype! It’s definitely the box that I was most pleased with simply based on initial appearances. Obviously, as I try out individual products from all the (too many) boxes that I’ve ordered, that could change a lot, so that’s why I’m emphasizing that this is currently my favorite box just based on superficial, first appearances.

Ever since finding out about the It’s Skin Babyface line, I have been wanting… well, pretty much the entire line! I was so happy to see the trademark smiley-face-and-wings packaging looking at me from within this box! The product in the ice cream truck packaging and the happy pig box also stood out to me upon first look.

Whole Grains 2 Memebox Review & Unboxing

Next up in my seemingly endless line of food-themed Memeboxes… it’s time for my Whole Grains 2 Memebox review!

Several years ago, Davies Gate released a series of “Seeds and Grains” beauty products. It included items like Whole Wheat Body Lotion, Cardamom Foot Butter, Barley Body Wash, etc. For some reason, this really appealed to me and I remember trying to find it in stock online or at the Bath & Body Works near me, but never having any luck – I think I found out about it too late, and so it was all being phased out. Ever since then, I’ve always kind of kept an eye out for similar-sounding beauty products, to make up for my missing out on that particular collection.

So obviously, when I saw that Memebox had released a Whole Grains box and I’d missed THAT, I was totally bummed. Luckily for me, they announced Whole Grains 2 pretty soon after, and I immediately snapped it up. The box arrived on my doorstep this week, so now it’s time for me to revel in FINALLY getting my hands on some grain glamour!

overview

Memebox’s official description of Superbox #34 Whole Grains 2:

“Whole grains are gentle enough for even the most sensitive skin, yet powerful enough to buff away dead skin cells and encourage surface cell turnover! Whole grains will leave skin feeling silky soft, smooth and glowing. Rich in vitamins A and E, whole grains are full of antioxidants that promote cell respiration and also stimulate the production of anti-inflammatory compounds, slowing down the aging process.”

For someone who counts inflammation/sensitivity, dullness caused by inadequate natural exfoliation, and anti-aging as some of her skin concerns, this box sounds like a no-brainer!

This box has some items that I’m really excited about, and a few that I’m not too hyped to try… but of course, I will end up testing everything eventually, because you never know when a seemingly boring product can actually be a game-changer, right?

You know the drill: if you’re seeing this post from the main page, the rest of the post is beyond the read more!

Glossybox July 2014 Review & Unboxing

Well, this is interesting! It appears that the Glossybox July 2014 Spoilers that members received via email weren’t entirely accurate. I assume that something came up RE: distribution and that’s why we didn’t receive products from Nailgirls London or The Aloe Source. While I was really interested in the nail polish, I have to say that I’m honestly not upset about this development: I absolutely love all the products that I ended up receiving!

July 2014 Glossybox

First of all, apologies for the washed-out look of all the images. It’s overcast and my Kindle Fire’s camera really doesn’t do well with anything but the natural light of a sunny day! I tried to balance the colors so that they look closer to how they are IRL, but you can tell that everything still looks a tad ghostly. Sorry!

As always, the Glossybox comes in cute pink boxes with tissue-and-confetti packaging, topped up with a pretty ribbon. Part of the appeal of these boxes is the care they put into their packaging, it always feels like you’re opening a beautiful gift!

Unboxed July 2014 GLOSSYBOX

As you can see, this month it was a makeup-free box. I think that’s a refreshing change, since to be honest – I can only use so many eyeliners at a time, you know! I personally find that when the boxes feature more skincare, body care, and hair care items, I tend to be happier overall. I like playing with makeup and all, but skincare stuff is my first love when it comes to beauty.
